Chicago’s never lacking for great things to see or do, especially around the holidays. For travelers headed to the Windy City this season, we’ve rounded up a list of our favorite sightseeing options infused with holiday spirit.

1. Christkindlmarket

Get the experience of an authentic German Christmas market right in the heart of downtown Chicago. Guests walk through the open-air market, winding around stands offering up German cuisine, hot gluwhein, as well as handmade crafts and keepsakes that make for perfect gifts.

2. Zoo Lights @ Lincoln Park Zoo

As if getting up close and personal with exotic animals wasn’t cool enough, every year the Lincoln Park Zoo puts on a breathtaking lights display all across the zoo grounds. Running from November 29th to January 3rd, from 4:30PM to 9:00PM the dazzling display will come to life.Fun, family-oriented, and completely free; while stopping by to see the lights, stay for ice skating, warm drinks, and pictures with Santa.

3. LatkeFest

Bernard Horwich JCC, 3003 W Touhy Avenue

Potato pancakes aren’t all there is to enjoy at this Hanukkah festival. In addition to a latke bar, there will also be a Hanukkah song session, a dreidel scavenger hunt, a magic show, candle lighting, and Sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts). 4. Chicago Botanic Gardens Hanukkah Concert

Chicago Botanic Gardens, 1000 Lake-Cook Road

Kick off the eight nights of Hanukkah with the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band, who will be performing two one-hour concerts at Alsdorf Auditorium on December 6th. Tickets to the concert also include access to the garden’s Wonderland Express exhibit.

5. Chicago Irish Christmas Market

Montrose Green, 1819 W Montrose Avenue

Ring in the holiday season with authentic Irish cuisine, handcrafted gifts, and entertainment. Over the course of three days (Friday, December 11th – Sunday December 13th), Northcenter Town Square transforms into a lively market with fun for all ages.
